As well as the totes and small green pillows that are screen printed with a film roll design with the Magic Bean Creations tags, I also have my “Swim, swim, swim…” framed rendered duckling piece in the show for sale as well.

In the mean time I’m getting ready for the Art School of Peterborough’s Arts and Crafts Market on June 15, 2013 and then Faery Fest’s Enchanted Ground the next weekend!

And of course there are other projects aside from that as well!

Murrbles are Contemplators of the Universe & lovers of Tea. Each comes with a corresponding flavour of loose leaf tea in their little bottles according to their face design.

The labels and colour cords for the bottles I have not completed yet, but I just couldn’t wait anymore to show a Murrble to the world! The one seen in the photo is for Earl Grey tea – the perfect companion for deep thought and a nice cuppa.

So now I can say that I have the 5 abstract painting finally uploaded to my website AND special news is that they will be for sale in Gallery in the Attic’s Little Red Hen show for February.

Well the Gallery in the Attic debut of the Prescription: Art show was a hit! The rooms were positively packed with people and the show has fresh work from so many members (including myself) and many sales were had on the debut alone! Through the great reaction my Boxed Monster paintings had at their 4×4 inch size, I think I have found the sweet-spot-size for them! They are gallery-wrapped canvas and I’m very proud of the little guys. I also have my Plushrooms in as well as etched glass and one Bloop Pillow to add to the mix.

One thing that hit me like a bolt is that I haven’t posted any new acrylic paintings in my Paintings Gallery from my mini local show at Chasing the Cheese, along with new Boxed Monster paintings and that is something I hope to rectify in the future.

Also my Grant Watch 2013 came to an end the other day with a letter that I had in fact not received the craft grant I was aiming for, but its all good! I plan on following through with my new plush design – just scaled back with a debut of 3 designs to start and growing on from there into the others. Plus I get to have a follow up with the Ontario Art Council to see where I could improve when it comes to applying because why not take the opportunity to try again?

Now to tackle the mystery-filled world of water colour with my new Winsor & Newton Sketchers’ Pocket Box 12 half-pan set!

I also really need to get my art supply/book reviews back up! I have new products I’d love to write about and have my older reviews saved; I saved them from the website burp that happened a bit back and I think it would be a handy thing to have back on the site!

ONWARD AND UPWARD!

I’ve also taken up the project of organizing the apartment space to work for me and not against (crazy concept right?). I got my little desk outside our bedroom organized and made things function with more sense. I finally got the little cork board up, which had been sitting propped up on my desk for the longest time – a couple of hooks, some string and tack in the wall and viola! Functioning cork board working for me far better than it did in the past and not taking up precious space on the desk. I also have items organized in the memory boxes we got a good deal on at Michaels – it was Kevin’s idea whereas I had always walked by the in the past and only had purchased one long ago for postcard collection and some photos. When he asked me if I could use them for the items on my desk, its like a light went on and I envisioned things really working. Now I have a box to collect WIP sewing pieces, all my cutting utensils for fabric and paper etc. which stacks them nice and neat on top of the filing cabinet that is snuggled beside my wooden desk. They’re easy to grab, and now my art magazines are on my desk instead of on top of the filing cabinet in a position that was hard to reach. I now have a collection box for wooden stamps (both my own printed and non) one for my jewelry tools and hammer etc.

My goal is to work with containers that are either clear (like my clay, felt and pigment containers) or to work with the boxes that have label space so that I can keep track of their purpose instead of relying on memory. We really don’t have a lot of space, so its a matter of being really aware of what you have to work with and have things make sense in a flash. It’s no fun having to go buy a tool you already have because you can’t find it.

Another thing I’m transitioning to is getting clear totes of a specific dimension for my fabric. I keep the majority of my fabric in the hallway, and by having them in the clear totes, it will let me protect them from dust etc. while keeping them organized and stop the “fabriclanches” that tend to occur when its not Kevin or I going past. Right now the fabric is either in the large white bags they were bought in or else in large blue Ikea bags that I was given. It works for now, but I want 100% totes in the future.

I’ve also started to make a sample keyring to take with me that will have a snippet from all the fabrics I currently own so that when I go to Fabricland I have 100% what I have in stock with me so that I can make conscious choices for matching, complimenting or else the purchase of colours and textures I don’t already own.

Coming soon will be the organization of “The Beast” my drafting table in the kitchen and the subsequent space around it so that I can continue to make “stations” to add to my productivity.

I was also gifted an 8 x 10 monoprice tablet which I have only begun to noodle with. This marks the first upgrade of my tablet since before college around 2001-2002ish? Oh my wacom graphire 2 4×5 you have been good to me, but your drivers had to be noodled to work, and you’ve had a good run… you still work perfectly in my heart *sniffle*

Now back to creating like mad!

Above are shots of my table at this year’s Focus Fair 2012! I had a great time at this wonderful local event and a great opportunity to get to talk with other local artists during the busy holiday season. Speaking of which, the The Inaugural Little Red Hen Holiday Exhibition is still going on til January 17th! After that there will be another group show in February with more details to come!

This month has been very very busy for me and I haven’t stopped yet! I’ve already started researching new possible events to table at i.e. conventions, festivals and fairs for the new coming season! Never too early to research!

I hope all had a great holiday season (for me its a week long event lol) and will have a safe and happy New Years party to bring in 2013!

I will be there this year for only one day on the Saturday from 11am – 5pm

I will have plenty of things to choose from this year including my new Plushrooms that will be debuting at this show, Bloops, etched glass wine glasses, mugs steins, jars and ornaments! Along with that I’ll also have new clay charms on necklaces and hair pins. A lot of work that I’m really proud of and can’t wait to display.

This is a great local show with a lot of great variety to choose from to get something special for a gift this year.

Of the items I’ll have for sale, you can look out for the fish bowl full of Wild Sea Marshmallows complete with their adoption cards! These guys are a light mint green this time instead of the light blue and are just as soft and fun!

Aside from my mustache ornament that was popular last year, I’ve added two new designs to the mix to bring the ornament total up to 3! I’ll have a fun Dino ornament and a Power Symbol Ornament

There is also more etched glass, including wine glasses, beer steins and tumblers!

There are a lot of great local artists participating in this show, and since it runs from November 17th 2012 – January 17th 2013, it gives ample time to pick something up for that special someone or spend gift money by buying local!

Currently I’m working on getting new pieces made for the next The Little Red Hen show, this time for Christmas!
(I know, its not even the end of October yet, but for those who vend at shows and galleries, its important to start ASAP)

The show will be November 17th – December 26th: Little Red Hen Holiday Exhibition and I plan on having a variety of work at this show including etched glass ornaments, glass, plush and possible Boxed Monster paintings .. and more? We shall see!

Looking forward to getting more of my paintings and illustrations back up along with getting my reviews of art supplies, books and other things back online!
